Refresh Your Home For Fall

September 13, 2022

As summer comes to an end, it’s time to start thinking about transitioning your home for the Fall. This is not only an excellent time to refresh your decor, but also to tackle those projects you put off in the heat of the summer. Turning your current home into your dream home may not happen overnight, but small changes over time can help you get there!

Did you know, a minor bathroom remodel returns an average of 102%*? From a complete renovation to simply changing out fixtures and hardware, a bathroom is a great room to refresh this season! Consider painting your walls or vanity, or upgrading your towels; even small changes can have a big impact on such a small space.

Give your curb appeal and entryway a seasonal refresh! Before the temperatures drop too low, consider power washing your outdoor spaces and investing in protective coverings for any outdoor furniture. This is also a great time to change out any planters or flower beds to clean up plants that are at the end of their blooming season and make room for fresh seasonal plants!

Switch up your linens! As the temperatures drop, you’ll want to have the cozy blankets within reach! This is a great time to take note of any blankets that may have seen better days and consider replacing or mending them. While your lighter linen and cotton blend blankets may have worked in the warmer months, you’ll want a thicker blanket close by this season.

Get your transitional closet ready! Get ahead of the game this season and start pulling those fall and winter clothes out of storage. Before you fully pack up your summer clothes, take inventory of what you didn’t wear this year and consider donating it to one of your local shelters. When packing your clothes away, be sure to label your bins and categorize the types of clothing to make the transition back to spring and summer as seamless as possible.

Switch out your artwork for seasonal colors. Along with painting, artwork is a quick and easy way to change up your space for the season! Not sure where to start? Neutral pieces in warmer tones are a great building block to incorporate into the decor you already have. Be sure to plan your color scheme ahead of buying any art to ensure a cohesive look throughout your home. Delaware is filled with incredible local artists, so consider purchasing from a local vendor.
