Giving Back

November 22, 2022

As we enter the season of giving, The Mottola Group is more proud than ever to be a part of a company that gives back so much to the communities it serves. While our individual team members are a part of many local organizations, Compass is supporting both local and national charities to ensure everyone has a happy and healthy holiday season. Last week, thousands of Compass agents joined the 5 Days of Giving Challenge, which challenged agents to define five actionable ways to thank those who have defined their 2022 so they can keep the connections alive in 2023. With that sentiment in mind, we wanted to give you ideas of how you can give back this season.

Local Food Banks – While most of us assume that supporting a local food bank just involves donating canned goods, the best way to actually support these organizations is by donating your time or money. Most food banks have access to extreme discounts and can make their money stretch much further than the average individual. Consider gathering a group of people and signing up to help serve food for a few hours instead!

Donate BloodDonating blood helps save lives. Every day people experiencing medical complications wait for donated blood to use during their procedures. While donating blood may seem like a daunting task, the American Red Cross makes it as simple as possible for you. By going to their website, you can find information on donation centers, blood drives, and even tips on what to do before giving blood to ensure a seamless extraction.

Toy Drive – Toy drives are a great way to spread holiday cheer! From donating one toy to adopting a family for the holiday, this process can be extremely rewarding. Check your local organizations to see where you can drop off your unwrapped toys this year!

SPCA – Animal shelters are always in need. While adopting pets from these shelters seems like the most obvious way to help keep these shelters running, there is so much more you can do to help out. Most shelters have a wishlist of everyday household items they need to operate efficiently. From bath towels to disinfectant wipes, helping out your local shelter can be as easy as adding a few more cleaning products to your next Target run! If you’re looking to make a bigger impact on shelters, consider paying off an important surgery or medical expense to save a pet’s life. Animal shelters are always looking for volunteers to help clean their facilities, feed and walk animals, and help bring in more funding, so if you’re looking to help out, the possibilities are endless.

Park Cleanups – Litter in public parks is not only an eyesore but can be dangerous for the wildlife that inhabits the park. Most parks have a friends association that you can join and follow for organized event dates, but we also encourage you to simply pick up any trash you may see on your regular neighborhood walks. Another great way to keep your parks clean is to be sure to always pick up after your pet!

We are so thankful to live in a community where there are so many opportunities to give back. Did we miss any ideas? Let us know!
